If you're a Volunteer Involving Organisation, we can help you recruit, train and manage volunteers
There are a few simple procedures your organisation will need to go through, and then we can start referring potential volunteers to you:
Step 1: Register your organisation. This will enable you to access our full range of services. Registration is free to not for profit & some statutory organisations in Waltham Forest.
Step 2: Our Volunteer Opportunities Development Officer (VODO) will arrange to meet with you and discuss your requirements. They will also discuss with you the policies and procedures you have in place to involve volunteers. If you don't currently have any policies or procedures in place, don't worry! Our Good Practice and Standards Officer (GPSO) will be able to advise you and help you draw up these procedures.
Step 3: We will begin referring appropriate volunteers as soon as is practicable. Our VODO will keep in touch with you to see how the referrals - and any potential placements - are proceeding, and someone from the centre will always be available to give you advice and support.
It's that simple!
Please bear in mind, however, that involving volunteers in your work is a process you need to be committed to as an organisation, and that it will involve time and resources. The payoff is likely to be enormous, and many VIO's now tell us that they couldn't work without volunteers, but it isn't a free ride and requires effort and input on your part too. More about best practice involving volunteers can be found here
Complaints and feedback
Our Complaints Procedure can be used by any organisation or individual who is unhappy with the services provided by the Centre or with a decision made by the Centre affecting you. The Centre is always willing to receive constructive criticism and suggestions for how to do things, or to make our procedures and support more accessible.
