Advice and support related to policy and best practice

The 'Opportunities and Organisations' Project gives consultancy, advice and support to organisations who want to develop or update their volunteering policies or procedures or who want to take steps to make volunteering more accessible and rewarding. The best and most appropriate support will vary from organisation to organisation, which is why we 'll sit down with you and work out a development plan and timetable tailored specifically to your organisation.

Examples of the kind of support which we may be able to give are:

Provision of guidance material

• We can carry out a good practice audit by visiting you and/or helping to review your existing policy documents. We'll also help you implement and monitor your development plan.
• We can make presentations to staff or governing bodies about volunteering best practice.
• The Project can advise, provide materials and review although unfortunately, we cannot write your policies for you. Every organisation is different and every organisation needs a policy which suits their needs and which has been written by the people who will put it into practice.

Please note that these issues are not optional extras. You must have engaged your board, staff and volunteers in discussing these issues and defining your volunteer related policies before we will be able to place people with your organisation.
