VCWF provides a range of services through which it aims to promote and encourage volunteering.
The Volunteer Centre Waltham Forest (VCWF) is a local volunteering development agency providing and promoting advice, publicity, information and support to volunteers, potential volunteers, and volunteer involving organisations. We strive as a centre of excellence to operate at the highest standards of quality, effectiveness and best practice.
Services
Brokerage Project
- Refers prospective volunteers to Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIO's). This service is a referral not a recruitment service.
- We work in partnership with organisations to create volunteering opportunities - identifying, defining and publicising new vacancies.
- We publish regular newsletters and information on this website to help volunteers looking for suitable opportunities
Good Practice & Consultancy
- Advice and support regarding policy and best practice in volunteering.
- Up to 8 hrs FREE consultancy to give your organisation a health check relating to volunteering, and produce a development plan
- We can help you try and identify what is going wrong if you have trouble retaining your volunteers or if you are having trouble recruiting them in the first place.
- We may be able to mediate if there is a dispute between volunteer and VIO - we may be able to act as an intermediary or advise the parties
Campaigning
- The Centre has a campaigning function. We gather and publish information about what VIOs are doing, the health of the volunteering community in the local area, and any problems which have been identified.
- We gather feedback to identify areas where there is a need for a different kind of service that the Centre can help with.
- We run promotional, recognition, information and training events
Volunteer Forum & Info Days
- Three times a year we facilitate a 'Volunteer Support Forum' for all those working with or managing volunteers in the borough
- The Forum gives groups an opportunity to get together and swap ideas and information. A report on the first Forum meeting, held on June 7th 2007, can be found here
- We also hold information days for volunteers. Information about the next one can be found here
